This is a very neat surgical procedure called a “Femoral Head & Neck Ostectomy” aka FHNO or FHO. My Corgi patient needed this surgery following a traumatic hip luxation. It’s a little graphic but a very neat orthopedic procedure. Enjoy!
- Femoral head and neck ostectomy is a procedure that is one of the treatment options for hip dysplasia in dogs.
FHNO involves removing the femur head and neck from the acetabulum joint and after the removal, the animal will form a scar tissue joint (pseudoarthrosis).
