Femoral Head & Neck Ostectomy – Video by Dr. Evan Antin

This is a very neat surgical procedure called a “Femoral Head & Neck Ostectomy” aka FHNO or FHO. My Corgi patient needed this surgery following a traumatic hip luxation. It’s a little graphic but a very neat orthopedic procedure. Enjoy!

  • Femoral head and neck ostectomy is a procedure that is one of the treatment options for hip dysplasia in dogs.
  • FHNO involves removing the femur head and neck from the acetabulum joint and after the removal, the animal will form a scar tissue joint (pseudoarthrosis).
