Uroplatus phantasticus, or the Satanic leaf-tailed gecko, is a gecko species indigenous to Madagascar.

  • 90mm – Adult size including the tail.
  • No eyelashes – They have only a transparent cover over the eyes and use their tongues to clean their eyes.
  • Color – They come in a variety of colors, purple, orange, tan and yellow, but mostly mottled brown.
  • SOME, MOSTLY MALE GECKOS, HAVE NOTCHES IN THEIR TAILS TO MAKE IT LOOK MORE LIKE A DECAYING LEAF.

  • THEY SCARE OFF PREDATORS BY SHOWING THEIR BRIGHT RED MOUTH.
  • Leaf-tailed geckos can shed off their tails to fool predators.
  • Favorite snack? Moths and crickets.
  • Like most geckos, they are oviparous, which means they lay eggs.
